Data driven designer with background in Finance

Hey, I’m Jin, a product designer who actually started in finance (yeah, numbers and spreadsheets). Turns out, I wanted more than just crunching numbers, so I found my way into UX, where I get to use both my creative and analytical brain to solve real problems.
At PenFed Credit Union, I led design for my own line of business, making digital experiences not just functional, but actually enjoyable. Before that, I was a project analyst at M&T Bank, where I realized I wanted a job that didn’t make me choose between being logical and creative, so UX was the perfect match.
I also write about UX because, let’s be honest, not everyone understands what we do. I created “My UX Process” to break things down in a way that actually makes sense. Then there’s my “UX Guide for Stakeholder” designed to help teams where UX isn’t fully baked yet (aka, places where “make the logo bigger” is still a serious request).
Outside of work, I like to stay in motion (running, surfing, hiking) basically anything that lets me escape my screen. When I’m not outside, I’m either learning something new, taking photos, or cooking (let’s just say I won’t be opening a restaurant anytime soon).
I studied finance at Susquehanna University, and I’ve lived, worked, and traveled to 15+ countries, picking up inspiration (and probably too many souvenirs) along the way.

Not design related
When I’m not designing, shooting photos, or pushing my limits outdoors, I’m probably out there learning something new, building better habits, or attempting to cook something that doesn’t require a YouTube tutorial.

My Camera, My Companion
Photography became my way of making sense of the world—a way to express myself beyond language barriers. While words felt foreign, my camera captured moments that did not need translation: quiet landscapes, raw emotions, and memories that deserved to be frozen in time.
The camera became my travel partner, framing the world through its lens, where each photo spoke a thousand words and revealed a unique perspective. What began with a 14-year-old kid with a camera evolved into my way of exploring creativity and telling stories without words.
Always in Motion
I am at my best when I am moving. Whether it is the rhythm of my feet pounding the pavement on a long run, the rush of catching a wave while surfing, or just chasing the next adventure, staying active is not just a hobby, it is part of who I am. Movement keeps me grounded, pushing me forward, always looking for the next challenge, the next horizon, the next story waiting to be told.
